The Process of Exploring
Is finding your Calling really that important? It is a little confusing to me at times because I enjoy plenty of things. Why is it so important to choose that ‘one thing’ and stick with it for a lifetime? How can I be sure that it’s always going to give me growth or at least, a constant level of happiness? Does it even have to? Why am I supposed to love, or learn to love one thing when I have multiple options? I don’t really believe that someday, I am going to ‘find my calling’. It can be true for a few people and it has worked for them too. But it is also true that sometimes, I start something and leave without completing it due to lack of time or motivation. It is something that I am working on though. So, if I choose something for the rest of my life and one day, I just don’t feel it’s my thing anymore then, what am I left with? I do not enjoy a certain thing in particular, I enjoy the process of exploring and doing various things. I don’t think we should do things with a motive. I’d rather say, let the process of exploration guide your path.
These are tough times and most of us have suffered. Whatever each one of us is feeling is valid. I have been feeling anxious recently and I am trying to ignore it. Although it hasn’t been of much help. Even if the smallest thing doesn’t go according to my plan, it feels like everything is falling apart and everything is useless. You cannot be productive if you are feeling something similar because obviously, you can’t find a reason to do anything.
You need to have hope for the future. Learn from your past, focus on your present, and let your present decide the future automatically. Also, never let your past/failures demotivate you. Rather make it a tool to make a better future. I’d say do different things and grab every opportunity. Explore everything without thinking about the ultimate future pursuit. Once you find things you love, give all of yourself to it and work for it. If you believe in something like ‘finding your calling,’ maybe you’ll find it without even thinking about it in the process of exploring.
